This rose is no longer available to ship bare-root. The plants have broke dormancy here in Spokane and are no longer available for shipping. You may still order this rose if you are planning on picking up your order at the Rosarium.
Wollerton Old Hall is available bare-root and can be shipped in Feb and March. After the end of March it will be available in a 3 gallon pot and can be picked up at the nursery. We are unable to ship the 3 gallon pot. It will be available for pickup at the nursery after we open April 2018. You may place an order and we will reserve the rose for you.
David Austin considers this rose to be among his most fragrant varieties. It has a distinctive myrrh scent found in some of his early roses, "Constance Spry" and "Scepter'd Isle". The plump yellow buds have flashes of red and yet when the blooms open they rich buttery yellow and pale to soft creamy ivory. Even fully open the blooms retain a nice cupped shape. This rose is particularly healthy and bushy and has few thorns. It has an upright form. Plant where the strong fragrance can be appreciated. It can be grown a a 5 foot shrub or trained up as an 8 foot climber.
Wollerton Old Hall in Shropshire has one of the most beautiful private gardens in England, not far from the David Austin nursery. The gardens are set around a 16th Century Hall and feature roses in creative plantings. One of my personal favorite gardens in England.
